Our strategy

In advancing the mission and impact of UNICCA, our strategy is built on comprehensive approaches in three key areas: cooperation, visibility, and the research environment. These pillars are further supported by one horizontal area: sustainability.

These strategic priorities enable us to innovate, lead, and achieve excellence in research, while fostering a forward-thinking approach.

Cooperation

Together We Achieve

Establishing new national and international collaborations and nurturing existing ones is essential for continuing the growth and impact of UNICCA. Staying attuned to societal and political health care developments ensures that our research remains relevant and addresses contemporary challenges.

By hosting and initiating strategic conferences and research networks, we will create opportunities for pivotal knowledge exchange. Engaging in dynamic cooperation strategies will enhance UNICCA’s capacity to innovate and lead in cancer screening research.

Visibility

Bold, Brave and Brilliant

We strive to embrace bold ideas, explore brave solutions, and pursue brilliance in our research. Active participation in international networks and conferences will showcase UNICCA’s expertise and foster interdisciplinary collaborations. A clear identity, and its visual branding, will strengthen our recognition and appeal. Prioritizing visibility in key media outlets ensures wider dissemination of our research findings.

A robust social media strategy will highlight our everyday work and publications, driving public engagement. These efforts will not only enhance UNICCA’s visibility and disseminate results, but also attract new talented researchers, secure funding, and create collaboration opportunities.

Research Environment

We are the foundation of each other’s success

Our research environment strategy is centred around fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere that encourages knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary dialogue.

Regular meetings, seminars, journal clubs, and accessible communication platforms will facilitate this exchange within UNICCA. We will ensure that PhD candidates receive comprehensive training and supervision on future career pathways, equipping them with the skills and resources to become independent researchers. By creating a supportive, resource-rich environment, we will nurture innovation and attract both national and international top talents.

The continuous development of our research environment is essential to uphold high academic standards and achieve excellence in cancer research.

Horizontal area - Sustainability

Integrating sustainability into all key pillars of our strategy and all aspects of our research ensures that UNICCA contributes responsibly to equity, diversity, and environmental well-being. It also maintains a strong focus on excellence in research-driven solutions and stakeholder engagement, while considering overall resource use both among citizens and within the healthcare system.

A primary goal is to ensure that all citizens have fair access to cancer screening, regardless of socio-economic status. This will be achieved by making decisions and actions regarding cancer screening transparent, with clear communication about the harms, benefits, and outcomes and by offering patient-friendly screening modalities.

Ethical practices and a commitment to social sustainability are essential for the long-term success and viability of cancer screening programmes.

We are also dedicated to fostering a sustainable work environment that supports innovative researchers, encourages creative thinking, and facilitates the development of new ideas to optimize cancer screening.
